LETTER FROM THE COMBOAT
'96 SOUVENIR BOOKLET
October, 1996 Dear Fellow Cruiser:
A year and a half ago, when Jo Davidsmeyer first contacted me, not only to announce that
Combat! and all of us who went with it were on the World Wide Web, but that you all wanted
to go on a cruise with us I was, to say the least, stunned. Actually, I think I sat
in my study reading her letter at least three times before it actually hit home. And here
we are!
I find the journey, from when I first wanted to become an actor up to now, somewhat
more than amazing. Among the many hopefuls in my years class at The American Academy
Of Dramatic Arts, only I and a very talented actor named Tom Poston have actually
made it. So I consider myself not only among the very fortunate, but extremely
grateful and blessed by the success Ive had and the many uncounted friends Ive
made throughout the world whom I dont necessarily know, but who know me. To
each and every one, Im happy that Ive been able to bring a little
entertainment and happiness into your lives. Ive been repaid a thousandfold.
Its positively astounding how a television show has taken on a life of its own,
and carried those of us who were in it along on its journey. Vics presence, of
course, is sorely missed, but Ill confide in you that he was extremely uncomfortable
in large gatherings, and made personal appearances as rarely as possible if at all.
However, Im sure he would have come along on this trip and enjoyed it tremendously.
I look forward to meeting and greeting everyone of you, and you have only one thing to
remember: my name is Rick not Mr. Jason.
